Although some may question the look of her exterior appearance, you won’t care what NCL’s newest ship, Norwegian Epic, looks like from the outside as you enjoy her 14 restaurants, 18 bars (including the first ice bar at sea) and Aqua Park inside.
Epic, which launches in the Caribbean July 10, 2010, will offer a wide variety of cabins, from the very small inside staterooms called The Studios (100 square feet) to luxurious suites which feature their own courtyard villa. All outside staterooms will feature private balconies.
Cabin Choices
The ship-within-a-ship suite complex will offer suite guests exclusive access to a Courtyard Villa featuring a pool, two whirlpools, a gym, saunas, a sun deck, dining, a nightclub and a concierge lounge.
The Studios are a new category of stateroom. These cabins feature a large, round window that looks out into the corridor, along with color changing light effects, including a love setting for those romantic nights at sea. Studio passengers will have exclusive access to the Living Room, a two-story shared private lounge.
Fun & Games
The Aqua Park will feature the only tube slide and largest bowl slide at sea – The Epic Plunge. Other fun highlights include a 33-foot high, 64-foot wide rock climbing wall, the first repelling wall at sea, six bowling lanes and the first squash court at sea. A multi-use sports deck will include a full size basketball court, volleyball, soccer, dodge ball, batting cage, bungee trampoline, a rope adventure course and a 24-foot tall enclosed climbing cage called the spider web.
Dining & Drinking
Epic’s 14 freestyle dining restaurants will include traditional dining choices as well as Italian, French, Chinese, sushi, Japanese and Irish. The Irish sports bar restaurant will feature sporting events on flat screens, three lanes of bowling, darts, pool tables, foosball and arcade games.
The Ice Bar is just one of the 18 lounges onboard. This frozen chamber of iced vodka will be set in changing hues of blue, green and purple. The bar, walls, tables, stools, glasses and life-size sculptures will all be made from ice. Guests will pay a cover charge (drink included) and will be given fur coats, gloves and hats to keep them warm since the room’s temperature will not rise above 17 degrees.
Adult guests who purchase a Posh Beach Club pass for the day or week will take a private glass elevator to enter this exclusive outdoor entertainment complex. During the day, guests can lounge on white-cushioned day beds and in private cabanas and cool off in the 35-foot long cascading waterfall. At night, things heat up as Posh Beach Club becomes an open air night club. Guests will be able to purchase a Beyond the Velvet Rope package to gain access to the exclusive clubs.
The final bits of information on Norwegian Epic will be revealed by NCL on May 20 and will focus on the ship’s innovative entertainment options. The first shipboard guests will also be able to book their cabins on that day as well.
