Follow us on the Carnival Magic during her inaugural cruise, May 1-10

Cruise News Weekly staff will be boarding the newest ship at sea next week and you can follow along on our social media sites.

We’ll be boarding the brand new Carnival Magic in Venice, Italy on Sunday, May 1 for a 9-night European cruise. Port stops include Messina, Civitavecchia/Rome, Livorno, Dubrovnik, Naples and Monaco. The cruise ends in Barcelona.

We’ll be posting live photos, information and videos (Internet connection willing) right from the ship throughout the cruise. Look for a full review in the coming weeks.

Follow us on the Disney Dream and Allure of the Seas this week

Cruise News Weekly staff will be boarding the two newest cruise ships in the water this week and you can follow along on our social media sites.

We’ll be boarding the brand new Disney Dream on Wednesday, Jan. 19 for a two night preview. And starting Sunday, Jan. 16, we’ll be on Royal Caribbean’s brand new Allure of the Seas for a week cruise. The Allure trip will also include a concert by top recording artist Taylor Swift on Friday, Jan, 21.

We’ll be posting live photos, information and videos (Internet connection willing) right from the ships as we check them out. Look for a full review of the Disney Dream and a follow-up story to our Review of the Allure of the Seas in the coming weeks.

Follow Cruise News Weekly Publisher Matt Roseboom as he reports live from Royal Caribbean International’s newest ship, Oasis of the Seas, this Sunday and Monday (Nov. 22 and 23, 2009). Oasis of the Seas is the largest and most revolutionary cruise ship in the world. She spans 16 decks, encompasses 225,282 gross registered tons, carries 5,400 guests at double occupancy, and features 2,700 staterooms. Oasis of the Seas is the first ship to tout the cruise line’s new neighborhood concept of seven distinct themed areas, which includes Central Park, Boardwalk, the Royal Promenade, the Pool and Sports Zone, Vitality at Sea Spa and Fitness Center, Entertainment Place and Youth Zone. The ship will sail from her home port of Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Follow us live from the new Carnival Dream

Carnival Dream smallWe’ll be reporting live from Carnival Cruise Lines’ new ship, Carnival Dream, this Thursday, Friday and Saturday (Nov. 12, 13, and 14, 2009). You can follow our updates here, on Twitter (twitter.com/cruiseguide) and on Facebook (facebook.com/cruisenews).

In addition to our coverage, the official naming ceremony featuring Academy Award- and Tony Award-winning actress Marcia Gay Harden, the ship’s godmother, will be broadcast live on the Carnival’s Web site, carnival.com/dream beginning at 4 p.m. EST on Thursday, Nov. 12.

Live streaming video of the invitation-only event will include an exhilarating dance performance, a nearly six-foot-tall champagne bottle and some other unexpected surprises. The ceremony will be hosted by Carnival’s Senior Cruise Director John Heald while the 3,646-passenger Carnival Dream is docked in New York City.

A live chat offering viewers an opportunity to ask questions about the Carnival Dream and comment on the festivities will take place during the webcast as, well.

The Carnival Web site also features exclusive photos and videos of the ship’s facilities and features. Interviews on the site include various shipboard personnel, as well as Carnival’s interior architect, Joe Farcus.

The 130,000-ton Carnival Dream ushers in a new era in “Fun Ship” cruising, offering a host of innovations. These include Carnival WaterWorks, an expansive aqua park featuring the longest water slide at sea; Ocean Plaza, a stunning indoor/outdoor café and live entertainment venue; more than 19,000 square feet of space dedicated to children and families; and a 23,750-square-foot Cloud 9 Spa, the largest in the line’s fleet.

The Carnival Dream debuted in Europe Sept. 21 and will operate a series of voyages from New York before repositioning to Port Canaveral, Fla., to begin year-round Caribbean service starting Dec. 3, 2009.
