Princess Cruises has taken delivery of the Sun Princess, unfortunately because some technical work still needs finished, the maiden cruise has been pushed back 10 days.
The Sun Princess is an entirely new ship platform for the brand. Princess is touting the 4,300-guest ship will have more balconies than any previous Princess ship, and will feature The Dome, an entertainment venue inspired by the terraces of Santorini, and the Arena! is said to be the most technologically advanced Princess Theater design ever.
The ship will also feature Spellbound by Magic Castle, magic-themed speakeasy entertainment lounge and theater, and Park19, the largest family activity zone ever featured on a Princess Cruises ship.
Although they have officially taken delivery from the ship builders, she will need to remain in the shipyard to allow for additional technical work. Unfortunately, the cruise line announced they have to cancel the Feb. 18, 2024 voyage. Sun Princess now will make its maiden voyage on Feb. 28, 2024 from Rome.
Guests who were booked on the Feb. 18 voyage will receive a full refund of the cruise fare along with any additional onboard services that were pre-purchased, as well as a 50% cruise credit that can be used on a future Princess voyage.
The cruise brand is also offering financial reimbursement for select travel costs for guests who have already arrived ahead of their sailing, and certain changes fees related to flights for guests who have not yet started their travel. Princess is also protecting travel agent commissions.
