The D23 Expo in Anaheim is a Disney fan fest where guests anxiously await details of new experiences, attractions, and entertainment from the company. During the second night of showcases, Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences, shared that four new ships will join the Disney Cruise Line fleet between 2027 and 2031. D’Amaro also shared details of the theater productions coming to Disney Treasure, debuting in December 2024, and Disney Destiny, sailing in November 2025.
Disney Cruise Line will expand with four new vessels to its growing fleet between 2027 and 2031. These ships are in addition to the current developments of Disney Treasure, Disney Destiny, Disney Adventure (sailing from Singapore in 2025), and an unnamed ship based in Japan (2029). Once these newly announced ships are built, 13 Disney Cruise Line vessels will be in the fleet filled with Disney entertainment, signature-themed dining, and characters. The ship names, designs, and itineraries are still in development.
Josh D’Amaro said at the D23 Expo, “Disney Cruise Line is consistently the top-rated cruise line for families because it offers something for everyone. Expanding our fleet gives more people, in more parts of the world, the opportunity to experience a vacation at sea like only Disney can provide.”
The news from the D23 Expo comes on the heels of growth and expansion for Disney Cruise Line after recently opening its second exclusive port-of-call in The Bahamas, Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point in June, and revealing the venues, characters, and experiences coming to the Disney Destiny next year. However, one detail for the Disney Destiny was held back, and at D23 they announced an all-new Broadway-style stage show, “Disney Hercules,” will debut onboard the Disney Destiny in the Walt Disney Theatre.
Speaking of theatrical productions, Disney fans also got a first look at a new rendering from “Disney The Tale of Moana” at D23. The theatrical stage show premieres on the Disney Treasure later this year and brings the story of the animated film Moana to life, including the character’s courageous stand against Te Kā, the fiery lava-wielding foe who will appear on stage as a fifteen-foot-tall puppet, the largest ever produced for a Disney Cruise Line show.
