Food is Art: Love by Britto opens on Sun Princess

Love by Britto specialty, high-end restaurant has officially opened onboard Princess Cruises latest ship, Sun Princess. The restaurant is a creative fusion between artist Romero Britto and chef Rudi Sodamin creating a prix fixe seven-course feast for the eyes and tastebuds.

Romero Britto is a Brazilian artist known for iconic images of the Happy Art Movement depicting happiness, fun, love, and hope. Based in Miami, Florida since the late 80’s, his work has been featured in the opening of Super Bowl XLI with Cirque Do Soleil, the FIFA World Cup, and the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Described as “The most licensed artist in History” by CNN (2019), Britto believes art is too important not to share, and collaborates with well-known brands such as Disney and now Princess Cruises

Located on deck 17 aft, guests enter the intimate 68-seat venue featuring a display of the artist’s designs against a backdrop of vivid colors and bold patterns topped off with breathtaking ocean views.

The seven-course dining experience begins with amuse bouche like oysters with lemongrass kafir, mirin, and gold flakes.

Entrees feature creative heart-shaped presentations and include savory tuna & avocado, pomegranate, togarashi; cappuccino of wild mushroom soup; salad of beets, figs, and goat cheese; granita of pink champagne and rose petals; tail of lobster thermidor; and succulent beef tenderloin and truffle jus. 

In line with Princess Cruises’ “Love Boat” style, dessert features a heart-shaped chocolate lava cake, fresh berries & raspberry cream, plus petits fours.

Additional touches include vibrant dinnerware featuring Britto’s art, heart-folded napkins, and even cutlery with heart-shaped cut outs. Love by Britto carries a cover charge of $79 per person, and specialty cocktails and wine are available for an additional charge.
