Comic-Con: The Cruise is for fans of pop culture, fantasy, sci-fi, cosplay, and… cruises. While there have been pop culture-themed cruises in the past, Comic-Con: The Cruise is the first-ever officially licensed by Comic-Con International, the creators of San Diego Comic-Con. The trip takes place on Royal Caribbean’s Serenade of the Seas departing from Tampa, Florida to Cozumel, Mexico February 5-9, 2025.
Comic-Con: The Cruise is hosted by Felicia Day – singer, actress, podcaster, and creator of the web series, The Guild. Headliner guests onboard the ship include Warwick Davis, George Takei, and Ernie Hudson. The sailing includes everything you’d expect at a convention including panels, screenings, photo ops, signings, and more. Theme nights include shows, cosplay parties, performances, games, karaoke, and other festivities.
Royal Caribbean’s Serenade of the Seas was first built in 2003 and last refurbished in 2022. The Radiance Class vessel is a mid-sized ship with a maximum of just over 2500 passengers. For comparison Royal Caribbean’s newly launched Utopia of the Seas has a max-capacity of over 7900 guests. As one of Royal Caribbean’s older ships, Serenade lacks many of the bells and whistles of the cruise lines’ newest ships such as extensive water parks, the Abyss dry slide, surf simulators, etc., but those departing on the inaugural Comic-Con: The Cruise are most likely not selecting the cruise based on the ship amenities.
The four-day sailing departs from Tampa, Florida on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, and spends a day at sea before calling on Cozumel, Mexico on Friday, February 7. The return trip also includes a day at sea before arriving back in Tampa on Sunday, February 9. The creators of Comic-Con: The Cruise are the same producers of many popular themed cruises including Star Trek: The Cruise, The 80’s Cruise, the 90’s Cruise, and more.
