The official naming ceremony of Carnival Cruise Lines’ new cruise ship, Carnival Dream, featured Academy Award- and Tony Award-winning actress Marcia Gay Harden in the role of ship’s godmother. Watch as she swings a baseball bat signed by New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez at a nearly six-foot tall champagne bottle to christen the ship.
The ceremony was hosted by cruise director John Heald onboard the ship on Nov. 12, 2009 while docked in New York City.
